SATA
The SATA interface is the latest and popular development of the storage interface for both hard drives and optical drives. SATA offers transfer speeds of between and 150Mbps and 300Mbps. Designed to replace the older ATA interface (also known as EIDE), it is able to use the same low level commands. However serial ATA (SATA) host-adapters and devices communicate via a high-speed serial cable over two pairs of conductors.
